me

This is a difficult post for me to write.  I have spent several years of my life pouring my heart and soul into KidsTravel2.  Nurturing it, helping it and watching it flourish and grow.  It’s not the first time I’ve felt it’s been the third child in our family!   Now it’s time for me to let it go…

So, what’s changed, and why?

I guess I’ve changed.  Things have evolved.  Our family situation has moved on.  My children are both full time at school now.   At the time, KidsTravel2 fitted my plan perfectly to be a work at home mum.  I could flex my hours, keep my brain active and my work skills alive.  I could properly contribute to the family coffers without compromising family life.  In a day that was busy with the demands of looking after a very young family I relished the time I could spend by myself quietly writing pieces for the blog, sourcing new products and getting creative with marketing copy.

As I said, things evolve.    Things are much quieter now at home as the children are at school and after 8 years I’ve found myself  wanting to get back out of the house and into the work place.  I’ve thought long and hard about what I’d like to do and I keep coming back to one thing… teaching.

I taught for 4 years in Spain when I was in my 20s and loved it.  It was both rewarding and challenging, and I like a challenge :)  When I returned to the UK I wanted at the time to use my languages and I embarked on a career in publishing selling foreign rights.  The years rolled by and new opportunities presented themselves.  I progressed to online sales & marketing and marketing communications before becoming a mum.  Recently I asked myself what I had really enjoyed in all of this.  And the answer was … working with, coaching and mentoring teams.   It was being involved in projects I felt passionate about and truly believed in.  I’ve also loved being with the children as they grow and develop.

My lightbulb moment.  Teaching embodied all of these.

Once on, the lightbulb grew brighter and stronger.  I’ve known that a return to the workplace would have to be for something I felt truly worthwhile, where I could feel I was making a real difference.

I feel very fortunate to have been accepted onto a teaching course starting in September so I’m already headed for pastures new.

I still see a bright future ahead for KidsTravel2 and am currently inviting potential buyers to get in touch.  It’s ripe for taking forward to another level with a growing turnover and healthy profits.   If you’re interested in owning and running your own business it’s a great opportunity.  Why set up from scratch when you can reap the rewards of all the hard years of work I’ve ploughed into the business and be making money from day 1?  Please get in touch if you’re interested in finding out more about it and I’ll be happy to talk to you.
